movie : Mary and Max

The pets in this movie are especially ugly, the golden fish, the roaster, cats and dogs... Chubby Mary and Max are ok, I love how bright red is used to spice it up. One of my favorite claymation cartoons is Wallace and Gromit, there Wallace and Gromit celebrate imagination, creativity and friendship, warm friendship. Mary and Max is a much darker movie about loneliness, hopelessness and friendship of course. Isn't it surprising this is an Australia movie considering how sunny that continent is... :)

Max Jerry Horovitz: [to Mary] "Dr Bernard Hazelhof said if I was on a desert island then I would have to get used to my own company - just me and the coconuts. He said I would have to accept myself, my warts and all, and that we don't get to choose our warts. They are part of us and we have to live with them. We can, however, choose our friends and I am glad I have chosen you"

I already knew the story line before watching. It is exactly a movie as it is advertised to be. I enjoyed it, I would have been blown away if I were like ten years younger. Many 5-star reviews in douban, it is surely popular to people who is still yet to accept ones warts, young ones. :)
